tours.
Tours
depart daily at 09H00 and 13h00 from St. Francis Bay. Travel along
old scenic roads where the first stop will be at the Van Stadens
Bridge. Visit a Lion Park with the opportunity to play with cubs
and see white lions and then visit another game farm where rhino,
buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and much more can be seen. Enjoy
the unique experience of handling a Cheetah.
Addo National Elephant Park.
Leave in the morning from St. Francis Bay heading to the Addo region,
where you will visit the Addo Crocodile farm and the Addo National
Elephant Park. At the Addo Crocodile Farm you will have a guided
tour for half an hour, where you can see crocodiles, lions, tigers
and many other animals. At the farm you will meet the lion cubs
which love to play with you. On to the Addo Elephant Park. On arrival
you will have the opportunity to view some wild birds from the lookout
shelter and elephant at the watering hole. You will have some time
to visit the curio shop and the restaurant for lunch and then enter
the park in our vehicle to start looking for elephants and other
game. Return late afternoon.
Shamwari Game Reserve.
Day trips to this renowned game reserve can be arranged. These
tours include both wildlife and cultural experiences. Traditional
Xhosa ceremonies and insights into cultural practices are part of
the tour.
Big
"5" tour.
Tours depart at 11 am. daily from St. Francis Bay. The tour
includes a safari lunch, game drive in open Landrover to view the
Big "5".
Tsitsikamma
Coastal Reserve.
Tours depart from St. Francis Bay at 9 am. The tour includes
a short hike and boat cruise up the river. After lunch enjoy a hike
to the waterfall on the Otter trail or relax in the park.
Cape
St. Francis Lighthouse.
The Cape St. Francis Lighthouse was built in 1878 and is still fully
operational. The lighthouse is set on the rugged point of Cape St.
Francis. The sea is normally rough with huge breakers rolling in
from the Antarctic ocean. This is a wonderful site to watch the
sunset over the mountains to the west.
Surfing.
St. Francis is renowned for its surfing. The film "Endless
summer" featured the "perfect" surfing waves - "Bruce's
Beauties". This perfect wave is immediately in front of 34
Lovemore Crescent. Surfers from around the world gather to surf
these waves. Surfing lessons are given by the South Coast Surf School
in conjunction with Billabong on the main beach.
Sand
Boarding.
St. Francis Bay not only has the perfect surfing wave, it also
has the highest sand dunes in South Africa. This easy to learn fun
sport is growing in popularity.
Horse
riding.
Several horseback options are available to visitors to St. Francis
Bay. Horseback game safaris as well as rides along the beach at
Oyster Bay are popular.
Whale
and Dolphin watching.
Southern Right Whales are regularly seen coming into St. Francis
Bay to calve and feed. Dolphins are also residents of the bay and
can be watched surfing the waves from the accommodation or from
the front lawn.
St. Francis Port.
Watch the fishing boats come and go. The picturesque setting is
ideal to sit in one of the restaurants and enjoy the ships and sea.
Shell
museum.
The Shell museum, with is large collection of shells is situated
in Jefferys Bay - just a short drive up the coast from St. Francis
Bay.
Penguin
rehabilitation centre.
Situated in Jeffreys Bay the centre treats and releases injured
Penguins.
Fishing.
Trips can be arranged for deep sea fishing. Surf and beach fishing
is good all along this coast.
